Parameters to monitor and modify ... somehow...

Environmental Factors

Interested in what the possible outcome is if the growth was affected by conditions of its environment.

Deploying Geometry

Can deploy geometries to the start and end points of the functions - the geometries can serve as distinctions between structure, skin, (building envelope)

Reverse Engineering x.x

Figured out the function for growing the system in the opposite direction. System is now able to grow both ways = Interesting.

Lofted Surface from L-System

Function Mapping

Function Mapping - It is possible to trace the growth of the system based on the input commands and number of generations.

Varying Radii

Deploying pipe geometry to system - Differing the radii of the individual systems

Overlaying multiple L-systems - Changing Parameters

Deploying 3 of the same L-system but with different step sizes and angle increments.

Basics on How the GH Rabbit Components Work

Experimenting

Experimenting with the idea of visualising different aspects of the L-system branching simultaneously. (Deploying different types of geometry - lofted surfaces etc)

Branching

Playing around with branching in GH.

Iterative Growth

Setting up a script in GH for iterative modelling.

Next Site..

Moving into component 3 (individual work) - continuing to work with the L-system. Have chosen to look into airports/airport terminals. Site will be Hamilton, the 3rd largest city in NZ. Already have an existing airport, will probably be looking at overlaying the architectural proposition - possible relocation.

Site Analysis for Component 2

Site: Riverhead, Northeast of Kumeu
Task is to analyse the site to the N'th degree - fun!

Diagramming

Assigning lengths to the variables' strings (angle locked at 45 deg.)

Grid

L-system distorting the rigid grid due to the nature of the material used to model with.

My ABCD L-system model - speaker wire strings - not sure if that is the effect I was wanting.
Thoughts of diagrammatic information being powerful tools.
Modeling a grid for the L-system to run on the z-axis. Kudos goes to Sarah Reid for helping with speeding up the process ;p

First Post

This is my first blog entry for what will be an interesting endeavor of design5 (or D.5 for short) to say the least. Here I will post anything and everything that is related to the D.5 studio - particularly work but also the life of working in level 4 studio which is pretty much our home away from home :)so kick back, put your feet up and enjoy the ride.
